Panasonic Automotive Systems has introduced its latest in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) platform in Toyota’s 2026 RAV4, marking a step forward in the carmaker’s transition towards software-defined vehicles.
The system has been developed to integrate with Toyota’s Arene software platform, created by Woven by Toyota, enabling closer alignment between infotainment, vehicle systems and over-the-air (OTA) update capabilities. The IVI platform is designed to act as a central hub for both multimedia and advanced driver-assistance (ADAS) functions.
The new system supports a range of connected features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloud-based navigation, digital radio and enhanced voice control. It also introduces deeper personalisation through a customisable interface, alongside integrations that improve comfort and usability, such as connected climate controls.
Safety features are also embedded within the platform, including camera-based recording functions linked to ADAS systems.
The interface is delivered through a high-definition display of up to 12.9 inches, combining navigation, vehicle controls and media into a single screen. Panasonic said the design focuses on balancing performance, energy efficiency and streamlined integration within the vehicle cabin.
